The 38th Annual Eastern Iowa Sportshow Powered by Ford will be held March 15-17 at the UNI-Dome in Cedar Falls. Fishing, vacation and hunting opportunities and outdoor recreation products will fill the UNI-Dome floor with the cure for spring fever. This year’s Sportshow will again include the McLeod Center with family entertainment and seminars.
Eastern Iowa recreational vehicle dealers will showcase the newest styles of light-weight campers, expandable trailers, travel trailers, toy haulers, fifth wheels, and motorhomes. Marine dealers will offer final show promotions before the spring boating season. Boaters can shop aluminum and fiberglass fishing boats, pontoons, family runabouts, deckboats, canoes, and kayaks.
The Sportshow is also the place for families and fishing groups to plan spring and summer adventures and reserve dates at the show. Exhibits include fishing camps, fly-in outposts, family resorts, campgrounds, canoe outfitters, sportfishing charters, tourism destinations, hunting outfitters and more. Areas represented include Alaska, Midwest, Canada and Africa.
Retailers will have plenty of show bargains and new products for outdoor enthusiasts. Fishing tackle, camping and hunting equipment dealers will be participating at this year’s show. More outdoor products include motorcycles, ATV’s, UTV’s, truck accessories, golf cars, kayaks and more.
Fishing seminars will include Lindner Media’s Jeremy Smith, professional guide Tim “Hutch” Hutchison and professional angler Tommy Skarlis. More seminars on catfishing and panfishing are planned.
Hunting seminars feature Adrenaline Junkies frontman, Kyle Wieter, with whitetail hunting tips and Cabela’s pro staffer Jim Hunt sharing spring turkey hunting tactics.
A special outdoor adventure series includes seminars on paddling and kayaking, boundary waters and backpacking.
Family entertainment features include the Aussie Kingdom stage shows and animal display in the McLeod Center. Other activities at the show include live rainbow trout fishing and a kids BB gun range.
Trophy whitetail antler scoring takes place Saturday and Sunday at the show. Iowa hunters can have current season or historical racks measured by official scorers and entered in competition. Trophies will be awarded to the top racks in each division with categories for gun and bow with typical and non-typical points. A $10 entry fee includes two-day admission to the show. Scoring and displays will take place on the upper south mezzanine.
