Cabin Fever a Winter Treat

Escape the winter blues by visiting downtown Cedar Falls February 21st from 5-8 p.m. for Cabin Fever, a new event in 2013. Participating businesses will offer specials and promotions throughout the night that you will not want to miss! Community Main Street is also giving away a prize of its own—a weekend getaway, complete with tickets to an Oster Regent Theatre performance, dinner for two at Montage, and a stay at the Black Hawk Hotel. Be sure to enter your name in the giveaway at any participating business for your chance to win.

Community Main Street works behind the scenes in the downtown district to stimulate economic development and provide a framework for long-term sustainability while preserving historic architectural design. It creates a welcoming cultural environment with a diverse mix of businesses, making it a destination “Where Good Friends Meet.”

The organization was established in 1987 by a group of residents committed to transforming the area from vacant buildings to a promising area of successful business. This group worked with the city of Cedar Falls and the Main Street Iowa program to improve the district and, 26 years later, it serves as a model for other communities across the nation. Since its inception, Community Main Street has seen a net gain of 410 jobs, over $33 million invested, and 493 rehabilitated or renovated building projects. Volunteers have donated over 38,000 hours within the same amount of time.

The work that Community Main Street does reflects the desire of Cedar Falls residents to make our city a wonderful place to live. To stay current on downtown events throughout the year, visit its website and click on Calendar of Events. A monthly newsletter and business directory are also available.
